Willie Davis

Obituary

Deacon Willie Davis was born on October 27, 1930 to Harry and Mary Davis in Dermott, Arkansas. Willie is one of 14 children who all have preceded him in death. He received his formal education in Dermott, Arkansas. In 1948 Willie enlisted in the U.S. Army serving for 4 years and moved to Los Angeles. He married Alberta McClerkiens and from this union was born 7 children, two of which proceed him in death. In 1974 Willie married his second wife of over 45 years, Myrna Hartman.

 

Willie worked as a sheet metal worker for over 40 years, working for Lockheed Martin, Weber Aircraft and Northrop. He also owned his own business as a work mason.

 

Willie loved the Lord with all of his heart and he enjoyed serving in his local church. He was ordained a deacon at Victory Baptist in Los Angeles California. He also ushered and sang in the choir.  Willie was an avid student of the word, attending various Bible study groups and classes to strengthen his faith.

 

Willie joins his parents, siblings, daughters Jacquellyn Mays, Albert Bray and son in law Robert Rush Jr in death.

 

Willie leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Myrna Davis, son Willie Davis (Juanita), Pastor Alvin Hacket (Sandra), Michaellyn Rush, Gwendollyn Larry (Lester), Marillyn Sanders, Marshallyn Brown (Charles), Geoffrey Davis, Robert Hartman (Darshan), Gordon Hartman (Jennie) 36 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
