John Okoye

d. July 18, 2022

John Ikechukwu Okoye was born at Enugu in Enugu state on May 8, 1962 to the family of the late Mr. Micah Okoye and Mrs. Mercy Okoye (Nee Ilomuanya) of Ugamuma Obosi in the Idemili North local government area of Anambra state, Nigeria.

John passed on to be with the lord on July 4, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America.
John was a very confident and intelligent child who excelled academically at Christ Church Primary School in Uwani, Enugu, Nigeria where he had his elementary school education and at Union Secondary School in Awkunanaw, Enugu where he got his West African School Certificate (High School Diploma) in 1978. He proceeded to University of Benin Pharmacy School and graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.PHARM)HONS.(2:1), second class upper division. He served his fatherland as a Youth Corper in 1984/85 at Akure in Ondo State. He obtained a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Business Administration and Management General from Enugu State University of Science and Technology in 1992.
As a pharmacist, he worked at West African Drugs (WAD) and Smithkline and French (Sk&F) which later merged with Beecham to become SmithKline Beecham. He later left Smithkline Beecham to work for himself.
John got married in 1992 to his wife Ahunna (Nee Irondi) who is also a pharmacist. In 1996 they both relocated to the United States of America.
John worked at Rite Aid Pharmacy here in Las Vegas until Rite Aid left the Las Vegas market in 2008. He then joined Target. In 2012 he left Target to start his own pharmacy known as OK’Care Pharmacy at 4845 S. Rainbow Blvd, Las Vegas where he worked as the Pharmacy Manager until his home call by the Lord.
John Okoye was an avid reader of books. He read all kinds of books which is why he was very knowledgeable in every topic of life. You can say that he was a “jack of all trades, master of ‘all’”. He was very disciplined. He exercised by jogging at least five to six miles every day of the week. He also made sure that he ate right. He was a very confident, kind, caring, and loving person — a great husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved God and was a born again Christian who held on to his faith until the end.
John is preceded in death by his parents Micah and Mercy Okoye, and his siblings, Comfort, Esther, Juliana, Obinna and Chidi.
John is survived by his wife of thirty years, Ahunna (Nee Irondi), his four children, Chidera, Chisom, Ikechukwu and Chika, his siblings, Ifeoma Ngwube, Nwando Onugha, Arinze Okoye, Obiageli Eneda, Victoria Udegbunam and Gloria Okoye, his brother-in-laws, Sike Azu-Irondi, Dr. Isaac Ngwube, Dr. Eddy Onugha, Eloka Udegbunam, and Uzoma Azu-Irondi, his sister-in-laws, Kechi Wogu, Dr. Uloaku Okoro, Dorritt Okoye, and Gloria Arinze Okoye.
