Las Vegas

I laid my mother down
to rest
she rose up
In grace
In peace
In harmony

Her life
was
and
will always be
Cherished
the embodiment of
Light
Love
Devotion

Today we celebrate
Her Life

Acknowledge
her rising

As she Fulfills
Her mission

She’s an Army Wife

Born August 14, 1934 in Headland Alabama, baptized and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Glenzerline Feggans-Cochran (also known as Gwen or “Mrs. Command Sargent Major”) was the youngest of Grady Feggans and Sinnie Porter-Feggans, three daughters. Her two older sisters: Bernice Feggans-Ayers and Pauline Feggans-Curtis, rose up before Glenzerline and were there to greet her when she arrived.

Gwen was raised by her grandma Hattie Feggans, aunts, uncles, cousins - family. Aunts Lillie Mae, and Margaret, Uncles Albert and Dub, cousins Charles, Francis and many, many more.

She told stories about her grandma, Hattie. How grandma Hattie spoiled her. She took comfort in being spoiled. I think she felt it showed how loved she was.
And she was loved.

Mrs. Cochran in turn spoiled her children, her family and her friends; letting each individual know how much they were loved.

The circumstances of Gwen’s rise reflect her personality, her giving nature - the day after Thanksgiving, in her sleep, while everyone was still gathered giving thanks .
One last mission completed.

Glenzerline married Alter Lee Cochran on November 22, 1952. Al and Gwen would go on to have 5 boys and 67 wonderful years together. Being an Army wife meant Gwen having to raise the boys on her own at times, which she did with grace and strength.

Mrs. Cochran had a successful career in restaurant management and as a federal employee. She is survived by her husband Al, 3 of her boys, Craig, Shelton and Cedric. Daughters’ in law Renee, Sherrie, Sheelah, and Shakila, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  She is predeceased by her sons Rory and Aldous.
