May 14, 1946 ~ October 18, 2022 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Obituary

Dr. Darrell W. Pepper was a celebrated mechanical engineer, professor, father, friend and colleague.

He was successful in all avenues of life, especially with a start in extreme poverty. Born just outside St. Louis, MO, he excelled at school and sports. Later, he would be the first in his family to attend college and obtain a Ph.d. from Rolla, MO.

Darrell Pepper worked at various institutions and organizations; he started at the Savannah River Site in Georgia, then moved to California and worked at the Marquardt Corporation for a time before taking a teaching position at CSUN. He had a private business, worked for the Air Force, several jobs at one time before heading to Las Vegas, NV to become a tenured professor. He was chair of the department, was dean for a while, helped create new programs for students and was a beloved advisor. An avid golfer, Darrell loved to spend time with friends on the courses throughout Las Vegas, NV.

The love of his life, Jeannie Pepper, passed a few years earlier, and both are survived by their son, Erik W. Pepper along with his partner, Pandora Pepper.

His accomplishments, accolades, awards and fellowships are too numerous to list, but he was highly successful and sought after for his expertise. He was truly, deeply respected within the fields he worked, along with family and friends, who are deeply lost without him.

Everyone he met feels this loss, and he is missed beyond what any words could say.
