Dorrene Mirabal

June 17, 1954 — April 5, 2021

Dorrene Joyce (Weeks) Mirabal passed away early Monday April 5,2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the young age of 66.  She was born on a military base in Landstuhl, Germany on June 17, 1954 to Charleene R. Hutchinson, of California & Owen A. Weeks of Vermont, both proceeding her in death.

Dorrene was a phenomenal wife, mother & grandmother. She happily spent her day doting on her family that she loved beyond measure. She was survived by her husband of 35 years Raymond Mirabal, their 3 daughters: Shawnie Marquez & husband Glen, Melissa Powell & husband John, Mariah Taddeo & husband Anthony, and 2 sons Marcus Mirabal & wife Kathleen, and Matthew Mirabal & wife Courtney. She was also survived with her 11 Grandchildren:  Robert Morales, Randy Morales, Kendra Mirabal, Mikaela Hill, Miquela Powell, Noah Mirabal, Triston Powell, Ethan Powell, Kamren Taddeo, Arianna Powell and Connor Powell, brother Charles Weeks, and nephews Nicholas & Brian Weeks and several extended family and friends.

She worked for the original MGM casino from 1973 until 1980, and worked for and owned a sandwich shop in Downtown Las Vegas during the 1980’s. She worked for 14 years for the Nye County School District from 1999 to 2013 holding various positions before retiring.

Dorrene was very creative and in her down time she could be found wrapped up in a craft project; whether it be needle point, crochet, sewing or painting. Her creations were admired by everyone and often were given for gifts on the holidays.  She also loved to garden and took pride in her rose bushes. She loved to celebrate every holiday and birthday.  She was often found playing with her grandkids on the bouncy house or on the playground slide.

Her breathtaking beauty, graciousness, strength and sense of humor was evident, not only through her words, but everyday actions. She touched the lives of every person she encountered.
