Brenda Fox

December 14, 1948 — September 16, 2019

Las Vegas

Brenda Joyce was born December 14th, 1948 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was the second oldest of ten children born to Ethel Guice. At an early age Brenda met and married Anthony Gene Jones, and to that union four children were born. After their divorce she moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1969 seeking a better life for her children, and herself. BJ (more affectionately known to her close friends), was a proud and determined woman making ends meet without the help of any state programs. In 1971 that determination paid off when she acquired a position at Yellow Pages of Michigan. She possessed many talents, and was recognized for her outstanding speed in typing, and for also obtaining top advertising contracts for the company. After Thirty-Four years of dedicated service she happily retired in 2008. Not only was she an excellent employee, she was a loving mother of courage. Brenda taught her children the value of team work, cleanliness, punctuality, being self-sufficient, and at all cost, “Say what you mean, and mean what you say.” Brenda lived a life of love and fun, always smiling and helping others until illness began to interrupt her daily routine. During that time her loving friend of fifty years Shireen stepped in to care for her, in which her children are internally grateful. As the illness progressed Brenda moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where her daughter and son in law took over her care until her passing. Brenda had a special bond with Vance her son-in-law, and she loved him dearly. Vance returned that love by preparing her favorite dishes daily. She’d say, “Thank you Henry, that was reeeal good!” She loved to eat, and the apple of her eye, granddaughter Courtney, would make sure she had her Popeye’s Chicken! Brenda loved football and was an avid Greenbay Packer fan wearing her signature cheese head while watching games. She enjoyed and mastered the game of Bid Whist winning tournament trophies. On September 16th, 2019 Brenda Joyce went to sleep peacefully, to take her rest with her Granddaughter Courtney by her side. Brenda leaves to cherish her memories: Her daughter, Andrea Richardson (Vance), twins Anthony and Adrian, Jones, and her youngest son Andrew Jones, her mother Ethel Guice, five surviving siblings, ten grandchildren, fourteen great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
