Ann Quinn

March 27, 1947 ~ August 31, 2020 (age 73)

Ethel Ann Quinn was born in Ogden, Utah, on March 27, 1947. She studied English at UCLA, although young adulthood was also marked by tragedy for Anni when she lost her older brother Michael to complications from cancer in 1974, and her father to a heart attack in 1976. After those deaths, she became a constant and supportive presence in the life of her brother’s daughter Carol.

Ann Quinn was a court reporter for 30 years in Las Vegas. From her stenographer’s chair, she witnessed some of the city’s most prominent and memorable trials. She also beat breast cancer twice—the first time in 1984, and the second in 2019.

Ann was profoundly generous and cared a great deal about animal rights—even testifying before the U.S. Congress after three of her cats suffered kidney failure after eating contaminated food from China. In retirement, she turned to activism on behalf of humans and animals, and worked on getting out the vote. She is predeceased by her parents Robert Nelson Quinn and Ethel Mae Larsen Quinn. Anni is survived by her brother Jim, his wife Hope, her brother Michael's widow Beverly, her nephew Michael, and her nieces Christine Quinn, Carol Quinn, Stephanie Pulley Burton, and Samantha Pulley Hurst.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that memorial donations be made to the ASCPA, Humane Society, ACLU, or American Lung Association. The family would also like to ask every person eligible to do so to register and vote.
