Sylvia was born in
Manhattan NY
to James Symonette and Margaret McIntosh
She attended Washington Irving HS
in New York City. After graduation she attended the Historic Foundling
Hospital for Orphans and Abandoned
Children she got her certification as a
“Baby Nurse” & later at nursing school she became an LPN
She met James Earniel who had just left the 82nd Airborne unit of the US Army and had recently finished Barbering School.
They married
on May 16,1953
A year or two later they left Manhattan with their toddler Dawn & moved to the suburbs of
Jamaica, Queens, after buying their first home.
Earniel opened his own
Barber Shop and Sylvia went to work as a labor & delivery room Nurse at Mary Immaculate Hospital.
During this time Sylvia & Earniel opened a
Cab Stand-and a new Barber Shop while raising their older children.
They later moved to Nyack on the Hudson in
Upstate NY. to continue raising their much younger son Casey in a quiet flourishing
community.
Deciding on a new path in1976 they moved to a whole new destination~
Las Vegas, NV
Sylvia worked as a
Co- Director at EOB
Child Resource Center and Earniel who became better known as “Jimmy”
worked in
Customer Relations as a Head Bellman @ The Las Vegas Club
They continued to live & work, in Vegas while adding
Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren to their family.
Earniel (Jimmy)
was the Love of Sylvia’s life and their union lasted 56years until he passed away on
March 1,2009 at the age of 80.
Sylvia lived another 17 years until succumbing to the ravages of
Lewy’s Body Dementia on July8,2026 at the age of 95.
Sylvia leaves behind her LOVING

& the youngest;
Jayden Cooper (Lacey)
She also leaves behind a host of loving
family & devoted friends
in Las Vegas, New York,
Arizona,Atlanta & The Bahamas

Compassionate Home Hospice.

We couldn’t have gotten through the last month without you all!
Sylvia Symonette will be cremated her ashes placed in a companion Urn with those of
her Beloved Husband
James Earniel
They will rest together forever being placed in a crèche @ Davis Memorial Park @a future date TBD~
