Our Beloved Daughter, Sister, Mother, Godmother, Aunt and Friend
Shakonda Sherriee Walker was born in Los Angeles, California, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital on Sunset Boulevard to Alfredo and Patricia Walker. From the very beginning, she lived her life with strength, joy, and purpose.
She attended school in Los Angeles and graduated from Inglewood High School as a member of the Class of 1993. In July 1992, before completing her senior year, she gave birth to her only son, Dominique Walker - a role she embraced with unwavering love and devotion.
Shakonda continued her education throughout her life, graduating from Marinello Beauty College and later earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix, with additional studies in Social Services. She also held dreams of opening a daycare and pursuing opportunities in real estate.
Shakonda worked faithfully from 1992 to 2020, beginning her career at Taco Bell and later serving others in Las Vegas, Nevada. She worked with Checker Auto Parts and Enterprise in the auto parts department. Then, moved on to Well Care, where she supported individuals experiencing homelessness, always leading with compassion and care.
A woman of strong faith, Shakonda accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized alongside her son on March 3, 2002, at Victory Missionary Church in Las Vegas.
Known as the life of the party, Shakonda loved traveling, taking road trips, and singing R&B songs during car karaoke. She visited many beautiful places throughout her life, including Jamaica, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Martin, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Hawaii and Mexico.
Shakonda deeply loved her family and was truly a devoted daddy's girl. She would fight tooth and nail for him - and for anyone she cared about. Everyone knew that when her firecracker spirit came out, there was no stopping her until she accomplished what she set out to do. Many of us experienced "Ms. Konda" at one time or another. Above all, Shakonda was loving, generous, and selfless. She gave without hesitation and cared deeply for her family and friends. We are forever grateful for her 50 years of love.
On January 27, 2026, Shakonda's transition took place. Preceding her in death are Father: Alfred Walker; Grand Parents: Aline Walker, Bessie Smith Walker, James Walker Jr.; Aunt: Anita Owen; Uncles: Arthur Walker, Gregory Brown Sr. and Niece: Keshona Walker.
Those left to cherish Shakonda's love are Son: Dominique; Mother: Patricia; Brother: Diashon (Tawanna); Nephew: Demarko; Niece: Keiara; Aunts: Jackie, Linda, Sharon, Vanita; Uncle: Jerome; and a host of Cousins, God-kids and amazing friends. Her legacy of love will live forever.
