Robert Galligan

April 10, 1953 — October 5, 2021

Robert (Bob, Bobby) Galligan, 68, of Buffalo, New York died peacefully in his home after fighting heart disease on 10/05/2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Robert was born on 04/10/1953 to Richard and Teresa Galligan.

Robert graduated from Cardinal O’Hara high school (Tonawanda, NY) in 1971. After high school, he spent a few years in a Franciscan seminary. After leaving the seminary, he worked doing maintenance at St. Francis High School (1975-1981.)  He then began a career of over 30 years as a truck driver. He moved with his family from Hamburg, NY to Las Vegas, NV in the late 1990s. Before his retirement, he drove triple trailers on a route from Las Vegas, Nevada to Grand Junction, Colorado. Robert’s true passion in life though was firefighting. He joined the Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Company in Hamburg, New York in the early 1980s. He was elected President in 1985 and also spent time as the Corresponding Secretary, Board of Directors, and 1st Lieutenant. He enjoyed the camaraderie with his fellow firefighters and could remember every detail of the calls he had been on. He took pride and joy in helping people, on and off the job.

Robert loved the Buffalo Bills and enjoyed watching football games. He also enjoyed traveling, and music. He loved to eat pizza and chicken wings. He was very handy too. He built cabinetry and had the skills to fix just about anything around the house. You were loved, we will miss you dad.

Robert is survived by his son Eric Galligan, daughter Anita Gersh and husband Joel, sister Mary Ellen Wolniewicz and husband Lawrence, nieces-Theresa Walsh-husband Peter and great-niece Veronica, Andrea Carter and husband Jeff, Kristina Wolniewicz, Caryn Anderson-husband Michael and great-nieces Sophia and Evelyn, and former spouse Sharon Pittillo.

Services will be held for immediate family in Las Vegas Nevada and interment is planned for Buffalo New York.
