Janet Louise Odom was born in Los Angeles, California on May 3, 1959 to Parents Ernestine Marie Odom and Richard Eugene Odom. She was the second child in their union. She was on the drill team and participated in many campus activities at Belmont High School and graduated in 1976. She worked at Ralphs Grocery store while in High School. After High School and while working at Ralphs, She enrolled in a special program offered by the NAACP that teaches computer science and developed an interest in computers. She graduated from the program and started working at ADP for a few years.
She moved to Las Vegas in the 1990’s to help take care of her only Niece at that time (Chyna). She was very involved in Chyna’s livery committed to Chyna’s well being and had her involved in many activities geared for Special Needs Students. Janet loved people and made friends everywhere she went. She loved concerts, weekend trips to Los Angeles to visit friends and family, bowling, gambling, hanging out at timeshares and the annual Halloween Parade hosted by a few casinos in the area. She had just started venturing out and traveling with her sister. She had a heart of gold and would help anyone she could.
She started working at Clark County as a Programmer Analyst and enjoyed her job. She worked for Clark County for over 20 years and was looking forward to retirement. She was part of the Hospitality Committee and would arrange company Christmas Parties and other Celebratory activities.
Janet loved life and will truly be missed. Her parents and Uncle (Ernest Poties Jr. preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories her Grandmother: Shirley Poties, Stepmother Carrie Odom; sisters Sandra Odom and Carol Primm Brown (Jerome Brown), Brothers Herbert Jones, Richard Odom(Melissa Odom); David Odom and Carl Kite(Keh Kite) Aunt: Twunda Avery, Uncles: James Poties (Darrlyn Poties)and Darryl Poties(Jacqueline Poties) ; Nieces: Chyna Jones, Chauntel Browden, and Kai Kite. Nephews: Davon Primm, Daven Primm(Nichole Primm) Richard Odom III, Aundre Burton, and Makaio Kite great niece, great nephews, God Children and a host of family and friends.
