Helen Godinez (nee Corpuz), 84 years old, passed away on September 6, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Helen was born in Manila, Philippines on December 27, 1934. She attended Far Eastern University, was employed in the banking industry, and married Frank Godinez on December 20, 1953. To pursue better opportunities, Frank immigrated to the United States in 1969 and sought employment. By 1972, Helen and their five children immigrated to the United States to join Frank and made Chicago, Illinois their home. She was again employed in banking until retirement. In 2003, she moved to Las Vegas for the warmer weather and the musical chimes of the slot machines. Helen and her family were able to achieve the American dream.
Helen will now join her husband, Frank, her parents, Antonino and Honarata Corpuz, and her brothers, Ernesto Corpuz and Alejandro Corpuz, to their heavenly home.
Helen leaves behind a big and loving family: son, Gil Godinez (Maricela); daughter, Nilda Recinto (Daniel); son, Edgardo Godinez (Susan); daughter, Susan Tocmo (Ian); daughter, Maritess Recinto (Bill); sisters Carmelita Maralit and Ludy Quinawayan; brother, Alexander Corpuz; grandchildren, Marissa (Vince), Michael, Jessica (Ian), Erwin, Jonathan, Edgardo, Jr., Vanessa (Joseph), Christopher, Justin, Christine, David, Sam; and great grandchildren, Victoria, Anthony, Andrew, Elijah, Jayden, Jalen, Isabella, Ilana, Sophia, Trey, Tyler, and Taylor. She also leaves behind other loving family members such as an aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews in the United States and in the Philippines.
The celebration of Helen’s life will be held on September 11, 2019 at Davis Funeral Home (on Rainbow) where visitation starts at 2:30pm and a prayer service held at 6:30pm.
